Aging

Intrinsic Aging
Intrinsic Aging is the rate of aging that occurs with the passage of time and as we age, our skin's ability to repair itself slows down considerably. Desquamation (cell turn over) of skin cells slow down trying to protect us when we are not producing new cells as fast.
Extrinsic Aging
Extrinsic Aging results from Intrinsic Aging compounded by external causes such as sunlight, air pollution, toxins and inflammation. As we age, our cells lose the ability to repair and reproduce.
Free Radicals
Collagen is greatly affected by Free Radicals, which are oxygen molecules that have lost an electron through interactions with other molecules. This makes the molecules very unstable and in their quest for balance, they will steal electrons from other healthy molecules creating more free radicals and, in the process, damage cells.
Antioxidants
Over time, damaged collagen becomes stiff and inflexible while tending to make the skin look old. Antioxidants can reverse free radical damage and reduce inflammation. Vitamin C is nature's most powerful antioxidant.

Stress

It is fundamentally important to recognize and relieve the stress that our bodies encounter on a daily basis. There is more than one type of stress:
Chemical Stress
Chemical Stress results from consuming coffee, tea, colas and other caffinated substances.
Physical Stress
Physical Stress is recognized as headaches, indigestion, sweating, breathlessness and other health- related symptoms.
Emotional Stress
Emotional Stress can arise from a marriage, divorce, children or various other relationships.
Social Stress
Social Stress is compounded through feelings of insecurity, difficulty in making friends, et cetera.
Spiritual Stress
Spiritual Stress is a feeling that you are all alone, or the questioning of one's existence.
Occupational Stress
Occupational Stress results from constant deadlines, unclear goals, lack of stimulation or even shift work.
Our society has a general lack of awareness that leaves us unaware of how to cope with increased stress levels. High stress levels untreated over a period of time can lead to illnesses such as heart, respiratory and digestive disorders, muscle tension, allergies, accidents and mental disorders. It is necessary for each person to find a way to relieve the pressures that build up.

Oxygen

Oxygen is one of four main essential elements of life. We can live for months without food and days without water, but only minutes without oxygen. To remain healthy, every cell in the entire body must be provided with a continuous supply of oxygen. Oxygen starvation or deficiency is probably the greatest cause of degenerative diseases. The most effective way to supplement the body with additional oxygen is through the lungs, or through the skin and digestive system.
